Many (if not all) students at Flowers Design School tell us that they had underestimated the learning curve that they would encounter when studying floral design with us. The team takes this feedback as a compliment as it our desire to see every student reach their full potential and therefore we have a strong focus on achievement. The course is stimulating and fun but also requires discipline and effort from the student. Regularly students say that they never realised how much homework would be involved! For our certificate students, the course includes a variety of theory classes, all of which require some homework such as research, assignments and projects.
As with all experiences in life, our students embark on a new learning journey when joining Flowers Design School. We work hard to ensure that their time is positive, encouraging and inspirational. We treat each student as a person, not a number and therefore build close and respectful relationships. Our team is dedicated to offer support to all students and hence we have an open door policy to feedback and communication.

The team at Flowers Design School are mindful of the cost associated with the flowers and foliage that our students provide for their practical classes. We work closely with our students to ensure that waste is kept to an absolute minimum and that wherever possible, the materials are recycled and reused in other classes. Students will also form buddy systems with others to share materials and dilute the costs. We urge all of our students to speak with their trainers to help in this area.
Safety at the school
As part of our enrolment terms and conditions, all students are required to abide by the Flowers Design School Safety Policy. The physical and emotional health of every student and team member is of paramount importance.
Small lockers are also provided where students can store their personal belonging securely whilst in class. Trainers also utilise these lockers to post feedback and return completed theory work.
If you would like to visit the school and see some of our training and students in action then we certainly welcome this. Please contact the school to arrange a visit or book into one of our Free Information Sessions - see our News and Events Page for dates.
We also display a large amount of our student designs around the school which are always a delight to see. By showcasing the practical work that is achieved in our training sessions, visitors can gain more of an understanding of the level of floristry skills attained throughout our courses. Plus it’s a great way for our students to share their successes with their peers.
Flowers Design School hosts regular internal floristry competitions to assist our students in their future endeavors and allows for growth and enriched experiences. There are no mandatory requirements for students to participate, but given that they are fun and dynamic events, the participation is always very high.
Flowers Design School recognise the importance of working closely with the floristry industry at large. We are in constant communication with employers, professional associations, wholesale contacts and other industry representatives to ensure that we keep abreast with industry trends.
Within the school we have two central notice boards which students have full access to. It is this central location where all current events are posted. You will find interesting articles, notices on the upcoming floristry competitions as well as the positions vacant section. Employers utilise their relationship with Flowers Design School and often seek out future team members from our student pool by promoting their vacancies. This also provides fantastic opportunities for our students who are looking for work within the industry.
