Frequently Asked Questions

I would like to study full time and complete my Certificate III course within 6 months?

Flowers Design School does offer you a flexible approach to our courses but from experience, we have found that combining more than 3-4 sessions a week is not effective. Our classes are extremely intensive, covering theory and practical aspects, leaving room for growth through homework and practice. In the first 6 months students can achieve basic Floristry skills. Intermediate skills can be achieved in a further 6-8 months depending on industry involvement. Advanced skills can be achieved with another 6-8 months of study. To gain more insight into the training program and training options to suit your needs, contact our office to set up a free appointment.

Does Flowers Design School offer workshops?

Flowers Design School offers workshops that provide a welcoming and supportive environment to achieve the best training outcome for each student. Scheduled workshops use a broad basis of technical and design skills to inspire and motivate participants to be truly creative. Contact Flowers Design School for information on planned beginner and advanced workshops or visit our website.

Can I do a traineeship?

Anyone aged between 15 and 64 can enter the Traineeship program. The best way is to make contact with a Florist shop of your choice, do some work experience and we can help you to work out a training program with your future employer.

How much do I have to spend on flowers?

This depends on your own taste, your choice of hothouse grown flowers or field flowers, and your access to gardens. On average you will spend between $15-$25 on flowers - depending on the session, the season of the year and the piece you will create in class. Flowers Design School will issue you with a student card so that you are eligible for the student price at the wholesalers. Student cards are only valid for the duration of the course. Students with their own gardens should be able to provide 60- 70% of the materials themselves. Flowers Design School encourages this as it gives a greater understanding of the botanical world. Students who attend more than one class per week can recycle their flowers to avoid wastage and maximise usage.

Does Flowers Design School do private tuition?

Did you know that private tuition can be an efficient and cost effective method of teaching? People starting or currently running their own business; people who want their staff to develop new skills and techniques, increasing speed and efficiency; and people who can’t come to our school, all find this a very practical choice. Programs are exclusively assembled to meet your particular requirements and specific demands. We instruct you in the latest techniques, promote interest and motivation, improve practical methods on sellable items and advise you on how you can increase turnover and profit. Private tuition is particularly effective for Florists and non-Florists in country areas or interstate. Please contact us to discuss your program and costs. Rates Start from: $71.50 per hour.
