Flowers Design School’s inspirational courses cater to the beginner, intermediate and advanced florist. Our primary focus is to share the very latest floristry techniques and trends in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
Courses taken as a stand-alone are awarded a certificate of participation. The most popular and practical place to start your floristry training is with the school’s Basic One and Two courses, which provide an introduction to contemporary floral design.
From here, students can choose to progress with short courses, nationally recognised certificates, tailored private tuition or one of our workshops.

The most popular and certainly the best place to start on your floristry path, is through Flowers Design School’s Basic One course: Introduction into Contemporary Design.
Basic One is a foundation course for the Nationally Recognised Certificates, for those individuals considering a career in this dynamic industry. For those interested in floristry purely as a hobby, this course covers the basics so that you may learn to create your own mini-masterpieces.
Each weekly session begins with the theory of the design piece so that you can go on confidently, to create a stunning floral arrangement that you can take home and wow your friends and family with.
After completing Basic 1, if you decide that Floristry is of interest to you, you can continue onto Basic 2 which follows a similar format but becomes more design focused.

All our certificate courses are conducted in learning modules,where your specialist teacher lectures the relevant topic. We have a range of flexible options such as online learning, block training as well as morning, afternoon and night options.

This training program is funded by The W.A. Department of Education and Training and the NT Department of Training.

Traineeships are available for the Nationally Recognised Certificate II and III in Floristry from the National Training Package for Floristry (WRF).
What is a Traineeship?
A traineeship is like an apprenticeship but the duration is for twelve months only. A Trainee can be employed on a full-time or part-time basis. It is open to anyone aged between 15 and 64. Off-the-job training is provided by Flowers Design School and funded through the W.A. Department of Education and Training.
Duration: For each Certificate Level 12 months for full time employees and 18 months for part time employees. This time can be shortened depending on the progress of the trainee both on and off the job..
Do Trainees receive a qualification?
After successfully completing a traineeship, trainees are awarded a Nationally Recognised Certificate that is endorsed by the Floral Industry.
What are the responsibilities for the employer?
The Trainee becomes a full-time or part-time employee for the period of the traineeship. The employer and trainee agree to a traineeship wage, which is stated in the AWARD (info at Wageline). There also will be an incentive of $1370.00 for Certificate II and $2750.00 for Certificate III, paid to the employer.The employer or manager is responsible for assisting the trainee with the on-the-job training. For more information, contact the nearest New Apprenticeship Centre (NEC) in your local area.
